Passage: Genesis 22:1-17

Preacher: Dr. Doug McCart

Category: Putting Action to your Christian Life

Keywords: loving, abraham, son, caring, issac, ishmael, strong, obidient

Summary

God told Abraham to move, He didn't tell him where He wanted him to move, just that He needed to part ways with his son Ishmael and Sarah's handmaiden, sell off the property and move. Abraham obeyed and while they were on the road to their new home God told Abraham to use Isaac, his son, as a sacrifice to God. Abraham did as he was told. God rewarded Abraham for his faith and obedience. God also provided a replacement sacrifice for Issac.

Detail

How strong are we as fathers?   Could we do what Abraham did, with full trust in God that He knew what He was doing and asking.  Abraham believed in God and did exactly as he was commanded. The Bible doesn't say that Abraham didn't have doubts, but what it does say is that Abraham did as he was commanded by the Angel of the Lord (Christ).  He did it without complaint or argument.
