Summary

The Churh at Smyrna was being persecuted by the residents of Smyrna. Christians were being robbed and all their worldly goods stolen from them, they were in poverty and when the Bible says poverty it means "abject poverty" as they had nothing left. Paul tells them that while they are poor they are actually rich. Though the richness he is talking about is not financial or worldly but it is spiritual and it comes straight from Christ Christ warns them that some of them may be going to jail and some will die but remember that they will die and join Jesus in Heaven. So they are rich in so many ways the world does not understand. What is important here is that they scripture points out the how Holy Christ is, The one who died and rose again and is back taking care of His people.
