Summary
The Nation of Isreal was constantly under judgement from God and because of this they were constantly in trouble and time after time faced adverisity that was brought on them by their own behaviour. God told the Isrealites what he required from them, total and complete submission, total and complete trust and following the laws as they had been laid out to them. However, the Isrealites could not do it, they could not get themselves to give it all to God and follow Him. They wanted to do it their way, so as they wandered in the Wildresness God continually had to remind them by having them wander longer and longer. The trip from Egypt to the Promise Land should have taken 11 days, it took 40 years becasue of the stubborness and wickedness of the Isrealites.

The rules were simple, follow God completely, follow the laws as laid down by the Prophets that were given to them from God and trust God to be the awesome God He was and is today. But because of human nature and the attitude of humans knowing better than God, the Isrealites wandered in the deserret for 40 years and multiple times after moving into the promised land, found themselves besieged, taken captive and placed under the yoke of slavery. All because they refuesed to follow the advice given in Psalms 33:12.
