Come and Sit

Summary
These verses provide one of the most intimate pictures of Jesus and the disciples. Jesus had been cruified and the disciples had seen the resurectted Christ two other times. This time Jesus is on the beach watching them fish. There were seven disciples fishing, these included John and Peter as well as the Sons of Zebedee (James and John), Nathaniel, Thomas the Doubter and two others. They had not caught enything although they had fished all night. When Jesus told them to cast the net to the right, they did as he said and were rewarded with a net full of large fish. But what happens next shows the love and compassion Jesus had for His disciples and really for all that follow him.

After the disciples caught the fish Jesus invited them to come to the beach and eat with Him. He already had a fire going that was the perfect coals for cooking fish. He told them to come and bring some of the fish they had caught,. Then he invited them to sit and eat with him. This is what Christ wants from us, to come and spend time with Him, to sit at His feet and listen and enjoy His company We live in a very hectic life and Jesus has shown us a way to slow things down and to spend time with our saviour in the most relaxed and comfortable way. Just enjoying His company and hearing what he has to say to us.
